I’ve had a lot of people ask me what it’s like to live and work from Italy, and while I can’t do it justice in a simple blog post, I can give you a small glimpse of my life here. I live in Trentino, which is a region of Italy far to the North, near the top of the ‘boot’.
Italy is a country with massive diversity, whatever you like, you can find it here; mountains, oceans, lakes, history, culture, food, music, art. For a writer, it’s a kind of paradise, and inspiration can be found pretty much around any corner. The Italian culture is also something that most tourists don’t fully get to experience when spending only a few weeks here. It’s when you stay for a longer period that the layers begin to peel back and you begin to understand better how the culture came to be the way it is.
Since I’m a full-time writer, my little life revolves around finding the perfect place to write. Most often, that means a cafe with really good cappuccino, or if the weather is nice, a park or outdoor terrace where the birds are singing. Weekends mean exploring with friends. I’m not sure whether you could see everything Italy has to offer in ten lifetimes, let alone one. And the rest of Europe beckons, too.
